Contemplating Country
- A contemplative practice to honour First Nations and connect with Country
XR Vic Regen honours the sovereignty of First Nations peoples of the lands on which we rebel. Join us to experience a practice of Acknowledging Country, co-designed with First Nation’s Practitioners and XR Regen Crew. In the practice we sit in circle, listen deeply and contemplate country: the blessings of land, water, people, culture, spirit.
This space can be a place for rest and calm in between actions, and to learn a contemplative way to Acknowledge Country in meetings.
What to expect: We start as always with Acknowledgements of Country, of the Climate Crisis and a Regen reminder. We will formulate Group Agreements, the things that we need from the group to ensure that we feel safer. We encourage you to participate in any way you feel able to.
Then, in small groups we will create a shared reflection by taking it in turns to reflect on a prompt or on what the previous speaker shared. We speak or sit in silence. We pause and pass to another person.
We reflect together on the experience.
Staying in this contemplative frame of mind, join us as we walk to Lincoln Square to listen, learn and respectfully acknowledge the official Welcome to Country which starts at 5:00 pm.
When: 3:15 to 4:30 pm, Tuesday 5 November 2023
Where: Drill Hall at the Multicultural Hub, 26 Therry Street, Melbourne VIC 3000

Extinction Rebellion Victoria acknowledges that we rebel on the stolen lands of the Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
