Corporate Globalization's Great Water Theft: How TPP would mean greater water insecurity at home and abroad

Start: Sunday, April 17, 2016 7:30 PM Eastern Time (US & Canada) (GMT-05:00)

End: Sunday, April 17, 2016 9:00 PM Eastern Time (US & Canada) (GMT-05:00)

Hello all,

I have spent a great deal of time thinking about  how to frame the message for this webinar-a task that frequently comes easily for me.  Somehow, wrapping my head around the reality of free trade deals like the TPP, being the preferred method of trans-national corporate theft of water resources is difficult for me.   Nevertheless, this is the reality, especially considering water is swiftly becoming the the most sought after commodity on the planet.

The defining indicator of a society's well-being is the equal distribution of our most important natural resource, water. Yet global forces are at work privatizing water, undercutting indigenous populations and cities, selling it to those who can afford to pay while all others are forced to find other unhealthy sources. Globalization of water has led to a major crime against humanity-theft of our vital source of life itself, water.

Please join the Trade Justice Alliance webinar:

Corporate Globalization's Great Water Theft: How TPP would mean greater water insecurity at home and abroad.

We are most pleased to welcome Detroit's Water Warrior,  Monica Lewis Patrick, Co-Founder and Outreach Coordinator for We the People of Detroit, and member of the People's Water Board;

And also welcome Mitch Jones, Senior Policy Advocate with Food and Water Watch, representing the organization in Congress. Mitch will connect the dots between examples like Detroit and Flint, and Globalization of water, and why we must stop the TPP and other coming free trade disasters.

We expect to also hear from a Peruvian speaker about the campaign there, and other Trade Justice Alliance allies. Please join us!
