On September 8, thousands of rallies will be held in cities and towns around the world to demand our local leaders commit to building a fossil free world that works for all of us.

We need to keep fossil fuels in the ground to avert a 'hot house planet'. If it’s wrong to wreck the climate, it’s wrong to profit from that wreckage.

Divest WMPF are asking Coventry and other West Midlands Councils to show climate leadership and call for the divestment of our local government pension fund from fossil fuels with reinvestment locally to support transition to a low carbon future. We call upon them to stand up to fracking and divest from fracking companies.

Come along and let the council know you want divestment , take part in a visual opinion poll, create a selfie showing why you back urgent climate action or make a 'vox pop' for our video. Join in the action photo at 2.30pm. (Bring some bubbles if you can or get arty with a home made placard -#rise for climate / #fossil free )

A writing stand will provide the information and everything you need to write to your councillor- then 'post' your letter using our 'nodding donkey'. ( We'll make sure they are sent)

There will be giant bubbles, Divest Dino ballon modelling and crafts too.

A very important part of this action is raising awareness of the issue in Coventry and getting members of the public to engage with their councillors on this issue.
