COVID in War Zones: A Pathfinder’s Perspective

Start: Thursday, May 28, 2020 9:00 AM

End: Thursday, May 28, 202011:00 AM

What happens when COVID-19 hits countries ravaged by armed conflict? With the UN calling for a global ceasefire, will violence actually stop in places like Afghanistan and Yemen? Or will the pandemic deepen divides?

Two peacebuilders may have the answers. In Afghanistan, Ehsanullah Abrar was supporting a historic peace process before COVID-19, promoting local voices while the U.S. and Taliban reached a deal; today, that process is in doubt. In Yemen, Shoqi Al-Maktary is coordinating efforts to deliver aid to those in desperate need while using every opportunity to de-escalate tensions. Both have seen the frontline effects of COVID-19, and both are ready to raise their voices, share their stories, and answer your questions.

Join us at 12 pm ET/ 9 am PT on Thursday 28th for a live conversation on COVID-19 and conflict, led by two people who have lived it.
