"Crashed: How a Decade of Financial Crises Changed the World" - Devon Local Group

Start: Thursday, July 25, 2019 7:00 PM

End: Thursday, July 25, 2019 9:00 PM

Our July meeting will be looking at a video of Adam Touze at a CFA conference in London in May this year talking about his book “Crashed - How a decade of financial crises changed the world”. Adam Tooze is Professor of History and director of the European Institute at Columbia University. Previously, he taught at the University of Cambridge and Yale University, where he was Professor of History and director of international security studies. Professor Tooze’s new book, Crashed: How a Decade of Financial Crises Changed the World, is his fourth book exploring trans-Atlantic economics and power in the American century, and the Financial Times called it a “monumental narrative history” of the financial crisis of 2008 and its global aftermath. The video lasts about an hour and will be followed by discussion.

Please pass this invitation on to friends who you think may be interested.  Refreshments and chat start at 7pm followed by the video at 7.30pm.

We look forward to seeing you. Do let me know if you would like a lift.

We will be having our annual planning meeting in August on Wednesday 28th August when we will be discussing Sovereign Money and Positive Money’s approach to it.

A note for your diary - A special guest lecture will be held on Thursday 17th October when The Economics Society of Exeter University will be hosting our sponsored lecture to be given by the authors of “The End of Banking” - https://www.endofbanking.org/
