Start: Friday, November 29, 2019•11:00 AM
End: Friday, November 29, 2019• 2:00 PM
The November 29th Rally hosted by the Connecticut Climate Strikes (Under US Youth Climate Strikes,) will be focused around Indigenous Rights and Anti-Consumerism, the first part of the Nov 29th and Dec 6th strikes. The rally holding speakers on direct action, consumerism, veganism and more will be held at the North Steps or back steps of the Capitol Building, following up with a walking march down to a nearby marketplace to protest Black Friday.
Beginning at 11 am with speakers and activities, the rally will end at 2 pm rather than 3 pm, and move into the follow up march.
Including petitions to sign, information on veganism and consumerism, and how to take direct action, this rally is focused on educating the public and bringing together groups of people fighting for the same things, to create a stronger inter-sectional. movement
With the consequences of climate change becoming ever more clear and dire with each passing day, a new powerful wave of the climate movement has been swelling up over the last couple of years. Young people around the world have been rising up to defend our future, and have been going on strike – every week, all over the planet – for months. In the September Climate Strikes alone, 7.6 million people took to the streets with us.
But our movement isn't going anywhere. Now, we are preparing for the next wave of Climate Strikes.
