This interactive session will cover Indigenous cultural competency, cultural safety and cultural humility as well as engaging with practical cultural competency in relation to communication, bias, values, and stress. We will also consider implicit racial bias, whiteness, colour-blindness before concluding with a focus on how to be anti-racist allies, reducing racial bias, as well as challenging racism and privilege. There will be two activities using prompts to examine: 1) assumptions of modern societies and 2) differences between Indigenous and modern worldviews. Led by Yin Paradies.
