NO WAY ON PROP A!

What is happening? District 5 for Black Lives is co-hosting a canvassing event with Austin's DSA. We will be encouraging registered voters to vote against Prop A in the November election. We will be talking with our neighbors about how community safety requires investment in the community and not a bigger police force. We will use the MiniVAN app to target those who seem likely to support our cause and vote (we will train you on this on site!).

When and where? We will meet at Garrison Park (near the playground) at 10 am for a brief training and snacks. Then, volunteers will head out for canvassing in nearby District 5 neighborhoods. No preparation needed ahead of time. Feel free to bring a friend or family member! It can be more fun to go canvassing in pairs.

What about COVID? This is contactless canvassing, which means that we will be practicing social distancing and following COVID protocols. When knocking on doors, we recommend placing the doorhanger (literature) first, stepping back, then knocking on the door to maintain a safe distance. Please wear a mask!
