Come study a foundational text of leftist political philosophy, Marx's Das Kapital, in a relaxed and social environment! Do the reading if you can, or just skim the SparkNotes, watch a video, or whatever medium works for you to come and discuss over a beer.

This week we will set the stage by discussing some of the background, purpose, and contextual details of why Marx wrote this, and finish chapter 1 (sections 3 and 4).

Accessibility standards on the Milwaukee DSA In-Person / Hybrid Meeting Checklist (based on the Accessibility Standards for Meetings) will be met for this event to the best of our ability. Please note that Lakefront Brewery does not have gender neutral bathrooms, there will be limited control over conditions (noise, smell, lighting, etc.), and we will meet in a small group setting with the speaker not amplified.

As for participation expectations, please read the planned content (Preface to 1st edition and Chapter 1, if you are able) and participate in the discussions. Ask clarifying questions!
