Day of Action: Crossing the Susquehanna- Option 2: Car Caravan
Start: Thursday, April 29, 2021•10:45 AM
End: Thursday, April 29, 2021• 1:30 PM
This event is meant to call attention to Senate District 48. The district includes all of Lebanon County, a small corridor through southern Dauphin County, then a large area in the northeast part of York County. There is no way to cross from the eastern to the western part of the district by land or bridge, so some of our group will be taking boats across while others drive around, traveling through SD 31 if crossing on Rt. 76, or through both SD 15 and 31 if choosing to avoid the toll and take Rt. 83.
Candidates for the special election as well as press are invited, as well as members of Fair Districts PA and League of Women Voters in Lebanon, Dauphin and the surrounding area. While boaters cross the river, the car caravan with car flags on their cars will travel north toward Harrisburg, across the river, then south again to Goldsboro.
Another group will be waiting at the Goldsboro Boat Ramp, in Goldsboro, York County to greet car caravan and boaters as they land for another short press conference and photo op.
Please be aware of the following:
1. This is not a bathroom-friendly event. There is an outhouse at the Canal Lock Boat Launch, but none on the Goldsboro side.
2. The event is weather dependent and will be cancelled in the case of heavy rain or thunderstorm.
Updates and last minute weather details and instructions will be provided.
