DECEMBER 13-15 – 1 OR 2 DAY CANVASS – CD 21 COALINGA

Start: Saturday, December 14, 2019 9:00 AM

End: Sunday, December 15, 2019 5:00 PM

We did it before, and we must do it again! This time the Republicans are specifically targeting District 21 nationally in order to win back their former incumbent, the Trump-Nunes crony, David Valadao.

We will win this race again by increasing Democratic voters even further than last time—this was a very close race and now Republicans are pouring money from all over the country into this race.

The primary is early this election cycleMarch 3, 2020only three months away, and vote by mail ballots go out in late January! And it will be a rematch between TJ and Valadao.

We will kick off our effort in the western part of the district with a weekend canvass in Coalinga the weekend of December 13-15. Sponsored by Santa Cruz Indivisible and Swing Left Santa Cruz, we will join forces with other Bay Area groups, including Swing Left. We are looking for some supporter-provided housing, or we can go in on shared motel rooms, which are reasonably priced.

Canvass weekends proved highly effective, and fun, during the campaign.

·         Spend the weekend with like-minded volunteers who are doing something to get us out of the mess we are in.

·         You can canvass Saturday only or Sunday only if you want.

·         We will gather together at a local restaurant on Friday and Saturday for dinners together for those who wish to take part.

·         Make a big impact—with a good turnout we can cover a major part of Coalinga in just one weekend.

Canvassing will focus on informing people of the great work that TJ has already been doing for their community, registering new voters, and instructing people about the Voter’s Choice Act that affects their county and should make it much easier to vote! (See https://www.co.fresno.ca.us/departments/county-clerk-registrar-of-voters-choice-act-3528.)

We need everybody, but especially if you are a Spanish speaker. The country needs your skills!! We are working on a possible a “Spanish for canvassers” workshop in Santa Cruz on December 7—let me know if you are interested.
