This is a virtual event

The XRSA Decolonising Circle invites you to their next Media Club. Come together to connect, discuss, unlearn, and stretch our understandings. This session is a chance to share some children's literature and challenge our own thinking about race, and how we talk about it with children.

Do you have a favourite children’s book? Is it still on your shelf? What did it teach you? What do you remember about it? What do you now wonder about the messages you took from it?

In preparation for this session we ask that you visit this BLM Instructional library and, step into your childhood listener self and choose several stories to have read to you. Please make sure one of the stories you choose is Sulwe by Lupita Nyong'o. We know this is a North American centric resource. We will have other books to share during the session that speak about race more broadly, especially in an Australian context, including books by First Nations Peoples. We’d also like you to bring along a favourite children’s book you on your shelf...don’t overthink this!

Limited places available so please do RSVP.

We are using the video conferencing tool Zoom for this event. Upon registering on Action Network you'll be provided with instructions on how to install and use Zoom on your device. We'll also provide you with ways to contact us if you require technical support.
