Density Decontrol at Land Use Committee

Start: Monday, January 29, 2024 1:30 PM

Mayor London Breed and Supervisors Myrna Melgar have introduced the next pivotal piece of pro-housing legislation as part of the Mayor's Housing For All Directive. The legislation, called "Expanding Housing Opportunities," will allow for commercial corridors to add more housing without exceeding height or architectural limits. This legislation will be heard at San Francisco's Land Use and Transportation Committee on Monday, January 29.

The legislation is a big step in providing more housing -- specifically affordable housing -- options for individuals and families of every age and phase of life, whether its students, young workers and families, empty nesters, or seniors.

By creating new housing opportunities in high resourced, transit-rich neighborhoods, this legislation will prioritize housing throughout the entire city, and go a long way towards making it faster + easier to create the 82,000 critically-needed new homes SF is required to build over the next eight years.

We need pro-housing voices to show up in person to voice support for this legislation. By RSVPing, you will receive talking points and more accurate timing estimates in the coming days.. Feel free to reach out to Jake Price at jake@housingactioncoalition.org or Jane Natoli at jane@yimbyaction.org with any questions.
