District 12 ACA Town Hall: with or without Tiberi!

Start: Wednesday, February 22, 2017 7:00 PM

We've called, we've written, we've begged, and Rep. Tiberi still refuses to schedule a town hall to tell us what his plan is to replace the Affordable Care Act. So Indivisible: Ohio District 12 has decided to set one up for him. Since he's ignored petitions and phone calls from over 1,500 people, we hand-delivered an invitation for him to come to the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbus this Wednesday, February 22nd, at 7 pm. We'll be waiting for him then, whether or not he shows up. We do not want a confrontation, or to embarrass him. Instead, we genuinely want to know what he plans to do with our healthcare. If he declines to come, we will have a slate of speakers, both patients and medical workers, share their stories about the impact of the Affordable Care Act, and where we can go from here. Rep. Tiberi has been called "the quarterback" of the Republican effort to dismantle the ACA, as he is the Chair of the Health Subcommittee of Ways and Means. Over 56,000 people in our district would lose health insurance overnight if ACA is repealed with no replacement, according to ACAsignups.net. Still, Rep. Tiberi has not been able to provide any solid, workable details on what a replacement plan would look like. Attendees are encouraged to get creative and write out their questions, stories, or messages for Representative Tiberi to bring to the event. There will be a box to deposit the messages that will be delivered to Rep. Tiberi's office. Messages can also be publically posted on the website: http://tiberitownhall.com/ We will also be accepting donations to help improve the health of all District 12 residents, through gathering personal care supplies for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. Examples of needed items include diapers, vitamins, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, bar soap, body wash, and deodorant.
