District 12 Health Care Workers Health and Safety Training, Northern California

Start: Monday, November 07, 2022 8:00 AM

The USW's Health Care Workers Council, in collaboration with the Tony Mazzocchi Center and the USW Health, Safety, and Environment Department, has created a brand new training program geared toward health care workers to cultivate activism, education, and advocacy through the use of Health & Safety committees.

This pilot program is kicking off in California with the support of District 12 Director Gaylan Prescott and will offer health care workers an opportunity to learn basic rights and representational skills needed to fight back against employer changes to our working conditions and dangers inherently present in the work of providing care.

District 12’s own health care worker member trainers will provide support to instructors from the Tony Mazzocchi Center as they present your rights and your employer’s responsibility regarding the following topics:

  • Workplace Violence
  • Infectious Disease
  • Health & Safety Committees and other problem-solving tools

Please Note:

  • This program is free to attend for approved applicants.
  • Lost time must be arranged and approved through your Local Union.
  • Lunch will be provided.
  • Attendees should expect to begin promptly at 8 a.m. and remain for an 8 hour day.
