Join us for a fireside chat with Kathrin Schilling of Columbia University's Department of Environmental Health Sciences. The Eco Ambassadors will explore her groundbreaking research in toxicology and environmental health. Professor Schilling’s work focuses on how environmental pollutants, such as heavy metals and industrial chemicals, impact human health and ecosystems. Her research spans biogeochemistry, isotope analysis, and exposure science, shedding light on the pathways through which toxins enter our bodies and the environment. This interactive session will provide a unique opportunity to ask questions, discuss the latest scientific findings, and explore solutions for mitigating environmental hazards. Bios:

Anvi Anand is a sophomore at the Lawrenceville School and has been a passionate Eco Ambassador with Columbia University’s Center for Sustainable Development for the past three years. In the summer of 2023 & 2024, she partook in their Eco Ambassador Summer Program. She has focused on multiple sustainable development goals and presented topics like Climate Justice, Fast Fashion, and Microplastics in the Northeast at different conferences including the World Congress at Cornell and the Smithsonian’s Women Environmental Leadership Summit. Her interests fall in public relations, the environment, and biotechnology. In her free time, she loves hiking and traveling, reading novels, and performing music. Anvi believes in starting the “butterfly effect” for the planet by taking small steps that lead to bigger outcomes, and hopes to achieve this goal through her future work.
