Description: Nurses and other healthcare workers can overlook the legal ramifications of improper use of social media.This is an area of law that is rapidly evolving and has already had dire consequences for a number of healthcare providers.
Purpose: The purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to recognize the implication of using social media in a responsible and legal manner so that patient privacy and confidentiality are preserved and legal pitfalls for the professional are avoided.
HIPAA Happenings: What’s the Latest?

Description: Nurses and other healthcare workers have to comply with HIPAA and it helps to know the common types of complaints that are made for HIPAA violations and how the government is reacting to them.
Purpose: The purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to recognize and avoid the types of HIPAA complaints that lead to government action against health care providers.
