Electoral Organizing 101 | National DSA Training Series (Day 1)
Start: Saturday, April 26, 2025•02:30 PM
End: Saturday, April 26, 2025•05:30 PM
Metro DC DSA's electoral program can knock 80,000 people's doors in a year and has 4 endorsed electeds in office, but to win the world we need we must tackle more and bigger races than ever before. So we need your help! For anyone interested in learning about electoral organizing, the Electoral Working Group is hosting a two-day electoral organizing training series facilitated by the National DSA electoral staff organizer Milo, who helped us set up the Uncommitted Maryland campaign and is visiting us this weekend.
Day 1 is Electoral Organizing 101, and will take place on Saturday, April 26 from 2:30 - 5:30pm at Petworth Neighborhood Library and virtually on Zoom (RSVP for the link). Electoral Organizing 101 is designed for members interested in collectively outlining the chapter's electoral strategy for realizing our broader political vision and will cover topics such as:
- Campaign timeline
- Candidate recruitment
- Chapter buy-in
- Class struggle elections
- Electoral organizing fundamentals
- Organizing in communities where we are less strong
- Settings goals and tactics
- Setting the tone and intersectional campaigns
- Socialists in Office (SIO) 101
Day 2 of the training is on Sunday, April 27th from 1:30 to 4:30pm at Anacostia Library and virtually over Zoom (NOT Shepherd Park Library, our reservation there was cancelled). It will detail the specific tools and tactics that go into organizing an electoral campaign, including several that will be central to our future mobilization efforts. You can do the second day without doing the first, and vice versa, but we recommend both for the full experience!
There will also be a social afterward at Sonny's starting at 6pm, RSVP so we know how many to expect!
This training is part of the PEC’s work on General Resolution 4 passed at the 2021 convention: Building Electoral Power and Accountability.
