SOS-UK are delighted to invite colleagues to join an ESD hackathon event Empowering Futures: Brand Value, Employability and Responsible AI in Education, hosted by one of our Responsible Futures Host Partnerships 2024/25, Open University and Open University Students Association.

Who is this event for?

The event is for students and staff from participating Responsible Futures Partnerships (UK and International). Responsible Futures is a supported change programme run by SOS-UK to embed sustainability and climate justice in learning, in partnership with students.

We really welcome colleagues from Responsible Futures institutions who don't directly work on the Responsible Futures programme to register and attend session(s) most relevant to their roles and teams if you are not able to commit to the whole event.

This event is free to attend.

When is the event?

This event will take place online via Teams (this has changed from Zoom) between 10:00-14:30 BST on Wednesday the 18th June 2025.

10:00-10:20 - Welcome, introductions and guest speaker address

10:20-11:20 - Theme 1 session: Brand Value and Marketing

  • Relevant Responsible Futures Criteria: IN009, IO002, LS007, PPL001, OU004, POC008
  • Aim: To enhance HEI’s brand value by marketing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) achievements.

11:20-11:30 - Break

11:30-12:30 - Theme 2 session: Employability and Green Skills

  • Relevant Responsible Futures Criteria: POC009, IO003, IO004, POC010, IO001, PPL001
  • Aim: To distinguish the technical skills and individual competencies, to transition to the low carbon economy and regenerative society.

12:30-13:00 - Lunch break

13:00-14:00 - Theme 3 session: Responsible AI

  • Relevant Responsible Futures Criteria: BB003, IO004, IO005
  • Aim: To prevent the unintended environmental consequences of the digital university estate.

14:00-14:30 - Plenary
