Energy Local Clubs are a pioneering initiative which enable trading of renewable energy between generators and consumers at a local level.

The Bridport Club is set to have around 60 houses join, allowing them to purchase the electricity generated by the wind turbine at Salway Ash.

In this online event, Dorset Green Party’s Pete West will be giving a talk and answering questions on the project developed by Dorset Community Energy.

The project, which is now very likely to be operational in March 2020, will be the first example in England of householders being able to directly purchase locally generated renewable electricity through the existing grid at lower cost than standard grid electricity prices.

It is planned to further develop the project to allow householders with solar PV to sell their metered solar export to other households without PV .

This is likely to be especially useful for solar panels installed after the end of the feed-in tariff.
