Families Belong Together March Los Angeles

Start: Thursday, June 14, 2018 5:00 PM

End: Thursday, June 14, 2018 7:00 PM

On June 14th, 2018, Los Angeles will march to oppose the cruel, inhumane and illegal separation of children from their parents/legal guardians along the U.S. border with Mexico, at other ports of entry into the U.S and in our communities.  We protest the conditions in which these children are kept. We protest the irreversible trauma that has been perpetrated in our communities for the crime of seeking a better life, migration. We protest the attacks on our migrant relatives. We protest the deportations in our communities. We protest the criminalization of sanctuary cities. We stand together to demand an END to family separation, decriminalization of sanctuary cities, real immigration reform, and a path to legalization for all.

To separate immigrant families, victims of violence, hunger and poverty, is to re-victimize them. This practice we claim is inhumane, cruel and unusual punishment. We know that as we contemplate what if this was my child, what if they were my parents? Children as young as 18 months are torn from their mother’s arms by the U.S. government! This is violent, physical, emotional and mental abuse! Our families continue to be victimized again by the government to which they turn for help.  We march to opposes the inhumane policies of the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Patrol, and I.C.E., and call for REAL IMMIGRATION REFORM!

WE DEMAND:

*DHS must be held accountable for inflicting trauma on both parents and their children

*Stop the inhumane practice of separating children from parents as an immigration deterrent

*The attacks on our migrant Brothers and Sisters must end at the border and in our neighborhoods

*Justice for our Indigenous Sister Claudia Patricia Gomez Gonzalez, who was murdered by the Border Patrol

*Amend SB 54 (CA Values Act) to eliminate carve outs to keep ICE completely out of California

*END to the deportations in our communities

*Shutdown Adelanto Detention Center one of the deadliest detention centers in Southern California and return all the detainees home safely.

*Defunding and abolishing ICE

*Real Immigration Reform: A path to legalization for all
