February 2020 Intro to SURJ SF

Start: Monday, February 10, 2020 6:30 AM

End: Monday, February 10, 2020 8:00 PM

Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) is a national network of people organizing white people against white supremacy and racial injustice. As Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez noted in a recent interview, the work SURJ is doing in communities around the country is a critical component of our collective struggle for racial, economic and climate justice.

The San Francisco chapter of SURJ (SURJ SF) invites you to join us at Alley Cat Books on 24th Street in the Mission to learn more about how you can show up. Find out about our organizing principles and philosophy and some of the paths you might take in going deeper into this work.

The struggle for collective liberation from the systems of oppression that hurt us all will not be won overnight, and will require us to build networks of support and mutual aid on a foundation of deep relationships that include everybody and we want you to join us today!

ACCESSIBILITY
  • This meeting is free admission.

  • This space is wheelchair accessible.

  • To help us provide a chemical and fragrance free event, we request that you refrain from wearing colognes, perfumes or scented oils.

ABOUT SURJ

Through community organizing, mobilizing, and education, SURJ's goal is to move white people to act responsibly as part of a multi-racial majority for justice with passion and accountability. SURJ provides a space to build relationships, skills and political analysis to act for change.
