The Five Demands tells a riveting story about the student strike that changed the face of higher education. In April 1969, a small group of Black and Puerto Rican students struggled against institutional racism and shut down the City College of New York. While the film uncovers the story of an explosive student takeover that took place over 50 years ago, it is directly relevant to today's struggle for a fully funded, high quality, and accessible City University of New York.
