Fossil Free Colleges: Pre-March Panel + Community Hour

Start: Saturday, September 16, 2023 6:00 PM

End: Saturday, September 16, 2023 7:30 PM

This event will be in-person at Pier 57 (Daffodil Classroom) in NYC in advance of the March vs Fossil Fuels on September 17th.

The college climate justice movement has achieved so much in the last decade. We've fought for divestment, won recognition and power at our universities, and helped onramp thousands of new climate justice organizers. But the past few years have been difficult. The pandemic led to a loss of institutional memory and connections. Now, students are reconnecting across campuses to share our successes, lessons, and skills. We want to rebuild the power of the college climate movement and reconnect across our schools.

Join us for a panel and community hour where we'll hear from inspiring college climate justice organizers from across the northeast region. You'll also have the opportunity to connect in smaller groups and 1:1 conversations with other organizers and join a broader coalition of college climate justice organizations.

*We recognize this event is planned during Rosh Hashanah. We ultimately chose this date because we wanted to take advantage of all the students who were mobilizing to be in New York City for the March vs Fossil Fuels on 9/17. We respect Jewish communities that may not be able to participate in this event during the Holiday. We will have post-panel materials and other opportunities to plug into the coalition for those members of Jewish communities that may not be able to attend.

*Note that we will strongly encourage wearing masks at the event to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and other seasonal viruses. There will be masks provided at the event but please bring your own if you can.

*By entering the event you recognize that there will be photo and video recording happening inside the event and you allow the host organizations to share those images.
