Fossil Free Future: Seattle, WA!
Start: Friday, October 29, 2021•11:00 AM
On October 29th, young people & adults around the world are taking to the streets to demand climate justice & a future free of fossil fuels. As part of the Global Day of Action, we are organizing a youth-led, youth-centered march and series of actions in Seattle.
Here's the plan:
--> We will gather at Pier 62 at 11am
--> We will march to JPMorgan Chase's PNW HQ where we will build a climate memorial and stage a die-in to commemorate all that has been lost to the climate crisis
--> At Liberty Mutual's regional HQ, we will take action to call out their insuring of Trans Mountain and other toxic fossil fuel projects.
--> We will march to Seattle City Hall to demand that they pass the Solidarity Budget and stop building new homes with fossil fuel heating.
Please bring an item to contribute to the climate memorial. You can bring anything that symbolizes what we have lost, or could lost to the climate crisis: a poem, a photo, something from nature, a sign. We will be leaving the memorial at the Chase branch, so please only bring something you are comfortable leaving at the action.
This will be a family-friendly event and the march will be youth-led and youth-centered. At each of the three locations, we will take action together and hear from powerful speakers and performers. All are welcome & we hope that you will join us.
The organizing committee for this march includes middle schoolers, high schoolers, and college students, and is being supported by 350 Seattle, the Future Coalition, Mazaska Talks, Sunrise HUB at UW, and Institutional Climate Action.
See you on the streets.
