Gathering Tribes - Gathering for Gayle!

Start: Friday, May 11, 2018 7:00 PM

End: Friday, May 11, 2018 9:00 PM

Join Pennie Opal Plant and Gayle McLaughlin at a campaign fundraiser and book party. Pennie is an amazing leader of Yaqui, Mexican, Choctaw, Cherokee and European ancestry who opened Gathering Tribes to share the beauty of Native America. Pennie strongly supports Gayle's corporate-free and Bernie Sanders' Our Revolution National endorsed candidacy for Lt. Governor.

Gayle was a two-term mayor of Richmond, CA and led the city's transformation, including the first rent control law in our state in 30 years, a 75% drop in their murder rate, and securing over a million extra dollars and greater environmental protections from Chevron.

Says Pennie of Gayle: "My family has been in the Richmond/San Pablo since the 1930s. I have lived under the shadow of the Chevron refinery and witnessed the harms to our communities' health. Gayle stood up to Big Oil and other harmful corporations the way no other elected Richmond official had the moral strength to do. And, reading her book, I learned some things about my community that I didn't know. I encourage everyone to read it and be inspired at how change coming from small communities like Richmond can make a powerful difference in the world. Go Gayle!"

As our next Lt. Governor, Gayle will bring to Sacramento her successful organizing experience from the Richmond Progressive Alliance. She will work to get us single payer health care, free public college tuition, a public bank, a state ban on fracking, and an end to prison privatization. She will protect immigrants' and women's rights, working to remove all forms of discrimination from our institutions.

Come hear Gayle's amazing vision and help carry her to statehouse!  Refreshments will be provided and a chance to purchase an inscribed copy of Gayle's new book, "Winning Richmond."
