Getting Started Text Banking with Rapid Resist (Group Leads Training)

Start: Sunday, June 25, 2017 7:00 PM

DO YOU LEAD A SILICON VALLEY-BASED COMMUNITY/ACTIVISM GROUP THAT IS LOOKING FOR WAYS YOUR MEMBERS CAN HELP FLIP SWING DISTRICTS IN 2018 AND BEYOND?

Text banking (via the Oakland-based campaign, Rapid Resist) is one way to get started! Come to this training and learn how your group can start texting voters in swing districts and get them stand up to their swing district representatives!  This is a "train-the-trainer" style presentation so after the event, you'll be able to teach your own group members how to use this platform.

****This event is by invite only and space is limited! *** Please do not share this event publicly and do not send NO MORE THAN ONE member leader per organization. These people must be comfortable administering these text banking trainings/meetups for members of your own group and answering questions from your member activists.

Bring your smartphone and a charger.

Event organized by Cassie (Together We Will - San Jose), Mary (Indivisible South Bay), and Carly (Orchard City Indivisible/Swing Left). Space provided thanks to the Santa Clara County Democratic Party.

ABOUT RAPID RESIST (https://rapidresist.org/)

Rapid Resist is the recruitment system for the resistance. Until the mid-term elections in 2018, the only thing stopping Trump from wiping away democratic protections is congress and their constituents.

Rapid Resist support activist leaders in critical legislative districts by recruiting at the last minute for their newsworthy protests and gatherings pushing back on Trump’s agenda. This digital campaign (using the web/mobile app, Hustle) will let you start securely and anonymously text message voters in key targeted swing districts and get them the information they need to take action and flip their districts in years to come.

ABOUT HUSTLE (https://hustle.com/)

Hustle is a personalized peer-to-peer text messaging platform that helps organizations get  their supporters to show up and take action. It allows organizers to connect with their  supporters in a way that’s more effective than traditional ways of communicating, like  phone banking and email. Hustle is helping great organizations create real change and  build genuine human relationships at scale

During the 2016 presidential campaign, the Hustle text messaging app was called "Bernie Sanders' Secret Weapon" because it helped him quickly turn thousands of people out to his rallies and volunteer events.
