Global Vaccine Justice Action in Downtown Portland!
Groups across the US and across the world will be meeting next week to demand that the World Trade Organization utilize the TRIPS waiver, a mechanism that would release vaccine patents and allow poorer countries to finally get wide access to life-saving vaccines. This would likely save millions of lives abroad, as well as many here at home, by preventing variants worse than Delta from developing.
We in Portland will be running a program similar to that of other cities, consisting of ringing a bell every 4 seconds for 7 minutes, to commemorate lives lost to this pandemic. We will be sharing stories as well.
