Go Slow for Ben. 2 years on remembering Ben Mundy, killed on A27.
Start: Thursday, June 03, 2021•03:30 PM
End: Thursday, June 03, 2021•04:30 PM
2 years ago, on 3 June 2019, 11 year old Ben Mundy was killed when he attempted to cross the A27 in Titchfield. Ben crossed at an unofficial crossing point just outside of Titchfield Primary School.
Join us to remember Ben and ask that drivers along the A27 take part in a "Go slow for Ben". We will ask for drivers to take part in a 30mph slow pass of the site where Ben tragically lost his life.
We will be handing out leaflets to drivers to ask for signatures to Ben's mums petition and for drivers to contact the leader of Hampshire County County as to why, 2 years on, no changes have been made to improve safety of the road.
In September 2019 over £10m was spent to improve journeys between Gosport and Fareham. One of the aims of the project was to improve the unofficial crossing point on the road. 9 months later Ben would be killed using this improved crossing point.
Changes that could we think could be made to improve safety.
- Change to speed limit reducing the limit to 30mph outside the primary school.
- A safe crossing point at the unofficial crossing to avoid the 1/4 m diversion up and down a steep hill.
- Improved signage warning of the approach to the school
