Grannies for Peace Mother's Day Virtual Event: An Appeal to All Women to Unite for Peace

Start: 2021-05-08 13:00:00 UTC Eastern Daylight Time (US & Canada) (GMT-04:00)

End: 2021-05-08 14:00:00 UTC Eastern Daylight Time (US & Canada) (GMT-04:00)

This is a virtual event

In the tradition of many years of Grannies for Peace (of the Capital Region of New York State) vigils at the annual Albany Tulip Festival on the Saturday before Mother's Day, this year we will gather virtually on May 8 to share our appeals for peace.

We invite all to join with us!

  • We'll see together a short video of diverse women reading the first Mother's Day Proclamation, issued by Julia Ward Howe in 1870, part of the origin of Mother's Day itself.
  • Individual grannies will bring the Proclamation alive by speaking to some of the current issues in the world of 2021 - including the nuclear dilemma, Afghanistan, Iran, Yemen, climate survival, police violence, and Grannies' love.
  • Everyone will have a chance to join the discussion to raise additional issues and ideas or make comments.
