Milwaukee DSA's Education Committee is sponsoring a visit to the Grohmann Museum (1000 N Broadway) on the MSOE campus to view their current exhibit, A Time of Toil and Triumph. It is a collection of labor-related art from the 1930s and 1940s—a period of militancy, economic struggles, and political gains for organized labor in this country.

The museum has other labor and industrial art as part of its permanent collection that should be of interest to us as well. This is a 2019 article about the museum. While it is critical of the museum's founder, it suggests good questions for us to consider, such as how we as workers and socialists interact with art as viewers, creators, and subject matter, how we access it, and what role does art play or has played for a workers' movement.

Afterwards, we’ll be going over to Elwood's Liquor and Tap, a couple blocks away (1111 N Water St), to have a few drinks and discuss the exhibit. Feel free to meet us there if you can't make the museum visit. Hope to see you there!
