GSLC Candidate Education Night

Start: 2021-07-28 17:30:00 UTC Eastern Daylight Time (US & Canada) (GMT-04:00)

This is a virtual event

The 2021 election Season is upon us! The Greater Syracuse Labor Council, AFL-CIO is seeking your help in notifying all candidates pursuing our endorsement of the required steps and deadlines in this process. Our endorsement process is as follows:

1. Candidates wanting the endorsement of the Labor Council will need to attend our candidate education night. It is a two-hour education forum where the different sector of unions (for example, building trades, public sector unions, etc.) will present their issues. The forum will take place on Wednesday July 28th at 5:30 PM via Zoom. You will be able to ask questions, and our delegates are also invited to the meeting.
2. Once the candidate goes through the education night, they will be given a questionnaire to fill out. All questionnaires will be reviewed and voted upon by the general body of the Labor Council. Candidates receiving the 2/3rd’s majority vote of the general body of the Labor Council will receive the endorsement. Candidates will be notified by mail that they have received the endorsements. All questionnaires must be submitted to the Labor Council by Sept 8th
3. Please note that all questionnaires are kept on file, and that we reserve the right to endorse candidates that do not attend the education night. However, all candidates must contact us first to see if they are excused (for example, we often excuse candidates that we have endorsed in the past, or have been exceptionally supportive of our issues).

Thank you for your help in sharing this information with all interested candidates. Please feel free to contact CNY Labor Federation, AFL-CIO organizer Wendy Colucci with any questions you may have to wendy@cnylabor.org.
Sincerely,
Mark Spadafore
GSLC President
