Hands Across the Land to say #NOKXL & #STOPTHECLIPPER - Flagship Event

Start: Saturday, May 17, 201412:00 PM

Description: Say NO to dirty fuels and YES to clean energy!

On Saturday, May 17, join communities around the country to ask the president and local officials to reject the Keystone XL pipeline, offshore drilling, and other dirty fuel projects that threaten our communities and destabilize our climate like the proposed Alberta Clipper expansion (Line 67) in Minnesota.

This Day of Action against Dirty Fuels is being jointly organized by the Tar Sands Coalition and Hands Across the Sand / Hands Across the Land and the Sierra Club- North Star Chapter & MN350 here in the Twin Cities. Hands, founded in 2010, grew into an international movement after the BP oil disaster in April of that year. People came together to join hands, forming symbolic barriers against spilled oil and the impact of other forms of extreme energy. Here in the Twin Cities we are coming together to join hands to say no the Keystone XL Pipeline and to fight dirty energy expansion in our state. With pipeline expansion projects in front of our state government we need to ensure that our representatives hear the voice of the pipeline who say no to the dirty, dangerous energy of the past and yes to clean energy solutions for the future.

We will join activists nationwide who are organizing rallies, marches, and vigils that call on the president to reject KXL and other tar sands pipelines, while at the same time asking our state and local leaders to say no to the dirty fossil fuel projects that endanger our local communities here in Minnesota. We all have reason to be concerned -- for the health of our families, and the health of the planet.

Join hands! Join us!
