Hastings Green Party AGM

Start: Saturday, February 22, 202011:00 AM

End: Saturday, February 22, 202012:00 PM

Pea Pod Veg

Join us for our AGM and a discussion about local food production as well as what we could be doing to cut down food waste. The AGM will run from 11 - 12 and the discussion will start after a 10 minute break for tea and coffee.

Emily O'Brien, who is a Green Party Councillor & Cabinet Member in Lewes District Council, will talk about her work as Policy & Partnerships Manager for Brighton & Hove Food Partnership. The Food Partnership is nationally acclaimed for its work to join the dots in the food system strategically alongside practical projects like their successful Community Kitchen.. She will talk about The Surplus Food Network, an alliance of organisations tackling food waste by working with suppliers to distribute surplus to people in need in Brighton, Hove and surrounding areas. There is the beginnings of a similar network in Hastings, how could we expand that?

Abby Nichol is the founder of Pea Pod Veg: A working example of small scale organic agriculture feeding our local community. How do we build on that to create a local food network?

We will finish off with some soup and bread (for a small donation) and a chance to continue the chat around 1.00 pm.
