Chuck Pennacchio is a lifelong social justice organizer, historian, and political strategist. He co-founded and led Healthcare for All Pennsylvania, 2006-2015, where he is now senior advisor. Chuck co-founded the One Payer States network in 2009, where he has served as president since OPS became a 501(c)(4) organization in 2021. He lobbies for congressional state-enabling legislation and strategizes for bottom-up democracy and against the rise of billionaire-driven domestic and global fascism.

Edwaun Whitehead, Deputy Policy Director of Center for Common Ground

Training Title: Protecting Health Care from Federal Rollbacks: How Advocates Are Responding to HR1 and the Farm Bill

Edwuan Whitehead serves as Public Policy Director for the Center for Common Ground, where he leads state and local policy strategy focused on protecting voting rights, expanding equitable civic participation, and strengthening democratic accountability. His work ensures that large-scale, nonpartisan voter engagement efforts translate into durable policy outcomes that safeguard access to the ballot—particularly for Black, working-class, and historically disenfranchised communities.

Prior to joining the Center for Common Ground, Edwuan served as Legal Advocate and Assistant Director for CourtWatch PG. He is also the CEO of ALO Community Strategies, advising nonprofit organizations and civic campaigns on policy development, compliance, and community-centered engagement. Edwuan has supported campaigns at every level of government and currently serves as Vice President of the Injustice Reform Network – Virginia.

He holds a certificate in Political Campaign Management from the University of Richmond and is pursuing a degree in Human Services at Indiana Wesleyan University. His work is grounded in a clear belief: voting rights are not symbolic—they are essential tools for representation, accountability, and lasting change.

Octavia (Lodé) Coleman, Southern Region Chair of Public Health Education & Research, FTC Charity, Inc.

Training Titles: Phone Bank & Postcard Messaging to Amplify Voter Mobilization

Octavia ‘Lodé’ Coleman is a Georgia-based, indigenous midwife, clinical herbalist, epidemiologist, and voting-rights advocate who has served as a key local leader with the Center for Common Ground’s Central Georgia Democracy Center. Octavia ran for Congress in Georgia’s 13th District in 2024. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and served in the U.S. Army from 2002 to 2005. Coleman earned a Bachelor's of Science degree from St. Augustine's University in 2005.
