Help save and expand transit in the Peninsula
Start: Saturday, June 01, 2024•10:45 AM
Transit in San Mateo County needs your help! For the region to meet our climate, economic growth, affordability, public health, and justice goals we need drastically improved transit service. We have a chance to pass SB 1031, the “Connect Bay Area Act” that sets the stage for a major increase in transit funding for San Mateo County and the rest of the Bay Area. So come help educate and engage voters to speak out in favor of funding transit!
The more San Mateo County voters that sign onto the petition telling their State representatives and transit boards to support transit funding, the better chance we have at getting the funds our region needs. Help us get the “Connect Bay Area Act” passed into law and a regional ballot measure onto the November 2026 ballot!
Event Details:
10:45 - 11:30am: Transit Ride-Along with San Mateo County leaders
At 10:45am on June 1st, meet at the Grand Ave & Linden Ave Bus Stop (near 316 Grand Ave) for this Samtrans/BART ride-along with elected officials and transit agency board members. We'll catch the SamTrans 130/130B bus at 11:06am and take it to the South San Francisco BART station. From there, we'll catch the 11:26 train to Daly City.
This will be an important opportunity to share your transit stories with our leaders, explain why transit is important for you and your community, and why more funding is needed to improve the system. The Northbound Caltrain will arrive in South San Francisco at 10:34am, leaving plenty of time to walk over to where we'll be meeting up!
11:45am - 2:30 pm: Flyering at Daly City BART Station
At 11:45am, meet at the Daly City BART station to get trained up, partnered with a petitioning buddy, and a stack of flyers. We will then meet with transit riders to educate them about the bill and get folks to sign the petition.
3pm: Food/Drink Social at Gilman Brewery
Afterwards, volunteers are invited to join a no-host happy hour at Gilman Brewery (2001 Junipero Serra Blvd, Suite 180) to debrief and celebrate a job well done! Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and daily-free food options are available.
The petition we’ll be promoting is here.
Co-sponsored by Seamless Bay Area, Transbay Coalition, and Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition.
