Join us on Thursday 12th September at 8pm for latest speaker session, Hope for the Future: Your Voice Heard training
Mothers CAN are welcoming Laura D'Henin-Ivers, CEO of Hope for the Future an organisation that ‘believe in the power of democratic engagement in calling for action on climate change and the nature crisis’. Laura will be providing a training session all about how to contact your local MP as well as how to engage them in climate action.
We've recently welcomed a new cohort of MPs to what is the most diverse parliament yet. On the 12th October, thousands of people from across the UK will be uniting to send a shared message to their politicians - that citizens all over the UK care about climate change and nature, and are asking their MPs to prioritise action. The Climate Coalition (which both Mothers CAN & Hope for the Future members of) are inviting as many people and communities as possible across the UK, from all walks of life, to meet with their MP in their constituency on the 12th October and raise climate and nature higher up their agendas.
Whether your MP is newly elected or returning to parliament for another term, we know that building relationships with them is crucial. Whether you’ve met your MP countless times, or have never engaged in any form of democracy, Hope for the Future are excited to be offering training to the Mothers CAN network, which will walk you through a step by step guide to:
Understanding parliament and what your MP can actually do on climate change and nature issues
Learning more about your MP
Setting up a meeting with them on the 12th October
Presenting a compelling case for action
Crafting your ask and ensuring you leave with a commitment
The session will provide transferable skills for influencing MPs beyond the day of action too, so please do come along even if you aren't available on the 12th October!
Anyone is invited along to this session, so please share with friends, family, colleagues and anyone you know who wants to take action. Mothers CAN provide a welcoming space, so join us for learning and discussion which can lead to action, however you choose to take it.
