Houston Federation of Teachers Car Caravan: Speak Out for Safer School Reopening

Start: Saturday, October 17, 202010:00 AM

End: Saturday, October 17, 202011:00 AM

We are being pushed to our limit by Gov. Abbott's rush to reopen. We are gathering to let the public, Gov. Abbott and TEA know that we won't be silent and we are united for a safe reopening. We all want to teach our students but we want to do it safely.

This event falls on the first day of National Safe Schools Week, which is October 17th - October 23rd.

We need to publicly stand together—teachers, support personnel, parents, students and community— to demand that Gov. Abbott, TEA and HISD ensure a safer reopening. We must not put the lives of students, teachers, other staff and their families at risk.

This event is not just for teachers and school support staff. We need parents, students and all concerned Houstonians to participate. These are our schools. Don't miss this chance to tell the Governor, TEA and HISD your concerns for your safety, and the safety of your students.

We will meet near Hattie Mae White HISD on Saturday, October 17th to make our voices heard. Please watch you e-mail and HFT Facebook page for updates to this event.
