Note: Because of Hurricane Laura, the event has been rescheduled for Tuesday, 9/1 at 1 pm.

Bring your signs as we rally outside Senator John Cornyn's office. When rally ends at 2 pm, we will tape our signs to our cars and caravan down Memorial drive to Senator Ted Cruz's downtown office (1919 Smith Street) and circle his building in our cars! Wear your uniform or a union shirt. Need a union shirt? Call me at 832/922-0362. We may have some TX  AFL-CIO shirts available for sale. You can also wear either a red or black shirt to blend in with other union shirts! If you are buying a shirt, meet us at the Starbucks in the 5500 block of Memorial (on the south side of the street) between 12:30 and 1 pm on the outside patio.

Other event details:

1)  Parking is available in the shopping strip in the 5500 block of Memorial Drive. There is also side street parking.   We can meet at the Starbucks between 12:30 and 1 pm and walk over to the 5300 Memorial Building together.

3)  We are not providing signs, but you can pick up poster-board in the school supply section of grocery or drug stores. Messaging for Cornyn should be positive because he signed the Senate Leadership Letter in support (but not our buddy Cruz!). We need thank you signs for him, and some generic “Tell the Senate to Act NOW”, Time to Save Jobs, Aviation Matters, No Relief Doesn’t Fly, Pass PSP Come Hell or High Water, Keep us Working come Rain or Shine, #ReliefNow, etc. You can pick up white shoe polish for your car windows for the caravan part, and we don’t need to be so nice to Cruz.

4) At 2 pm, we will walk back to the shopping center and stage our cars for the caravan. Shooting for a 1:15 departure for downtown. Map to be disclosed on Tuesday, but Cruz’s building address is 1919 Smith Street. As soon as we leave for downtown, we can participate in a Conference Call to stay connected: dial-in number: 712/451-0208, Access Code: 180393.

Since the pandemic began, more than 55 million Americans have filed for unemployment. Congress must act now, or millions more workers will lose their jobs without a safety net to catch them.  That includes hundreds of thousands of aviation workers who have been protected thanks to the Payroll Support Program.

In August, sixteen senate Republicans joined senate Democrats and the bipartisan House majority in support of a clean extension of that program through March, including Senator John Cornyn! But with the Senate on recess and deadlines looming, our jobs and millions more are in danger. A major relief deal was coming together. We need the Senate to return to give us Relief Now.

Join our Houston event or sign up to host your own. Together, let's make sure Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and every member of the United States Senate understands that we expect them to legislate #ReliefNow!
