This is a virtual event

The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted many problems Norwich was already facing: poverty, unemployment, racial inequality, a mental health crisis. Because of the pandemic and how it has changed our habits, a lot of businesses are struggling and people are losing their jobs. And while we deal with this crisis, other big global issues like climate justice are only getting more urgent.

Lots of people are calling for change, saying we can do better than just go ‘back to normal’ when ‘normal’ was failing so many people. If we work together and learn from each other, can we Build Back Better?

This event is hosted by Green New Deal Norwich, Norfolk Network, Norwich & District Trades Council, and The Norwich Radical. We want to start a conversation where all Norwich people from all backgrounds can come together to talk about what we have learned from lockdown and what changes we need. This is not a lecture or a panel discussion – we’ll introduce ourselves and suggest some questions, but then it’s over to you to discuss in small groups.

We hope the discussion will prompt some inspiring ideas for what can be done locally. We’ll be using notes from this conversation to feed into the new ‘Good Economy Commission’ for Norwich, and to write to Norwich’s MPs telling them what local people want to see. Join us on Saturday 12 September and let’s help set our city on a better course.

Once registered, you will receive an email with details of how to join the meeting online.
