Palestinian professor and activist Mazin Qumsiyeh will discuss how we retain our principles, our humanity, and our activism in an era when collusion, sell-outs for greed (which some call “normalization”), and oppression are less and less publicized, media being also bought and paid for. By late February people will have seen the danger of President Biden folding to the same corporate interests and engaging in wars on countries like Venezuela, Syria, Iran, and Yemen, while continuing U.S. support for repressive regimes like “Israel” and “Saudi Arabia.”

In discussion with the audience, he will encourage proactive, positive ways in which humans around the world can and should work together to save our planet from catastrophes such as wars, climate change, and new pandemics in the global human struggle against oppression and global greed.

About the Speaker: Professor Mazin Qumsiyeh teaches and conducts research at Bethlehem and Birzeit Universities. He is founder and director of the Palestine Museum of Natural History (PMNBH) and the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS) at Bethlehem University. His books include Bats of Egypt, Mammals of the Holy Land, Sharing the Land of Canaan, and Popular Resistance in Palestine: A History of Hope and Empowerment. He serves on the board of a number of Palestinian youth and service organizations.
