How to Stop an Oilfield: #StopRosebank Public Meeting

Start: Thursday, October 06, 2022 7:00 PM

End: Thursday, October 06, 2022 9:00 PM

Last year thousands of us came together and forced oil giant Shell to pull out of the development of the Cambo oil field in the North Sea. Now is the time to oppose its much, much bigger neighbour, Rosebank. Burning Rosebank’s oil and gas would create more CO2 than the combined emissions of all 28 low-income countries in the world. In other words, the climate pollution from this one UK field would be more than the 700 million people in the world’s poorest countries create in a year.

To #StopRosebank, we need people across the UK taking action and putting pressure on decision makers. Join us in Edinburgh to discuss and plan ideas for how we can make this happen in our city. This is a public meeting, not a presentation; we'll talk briefly about the campaign so far but the majority of the time will be spent on action planning. Bring your energy and ideas!

Logistics:

  • Please register in advance so we can have an idea of numbers, and to ensure we don't exceed the maximum capacity of the room
  • There is flat access into the front of the room, a disabled toilet on the same floor and a hearing loop available. If you have any other access needs please let us know in the sign up form and we will do our best to accommodate.
  • This event is organised by Friends of the Earth Scotland and Tipping Point UK. Stop Cambo is an informal coalition space bringing together a wide civil society effort of grassroots groups, NGOs, and individuals to fight against new oil and gas projects and for a just transition from fossil fuels to renewables using a broad variety of tactics.
