[In-Person Protest] MLK Jr Day Time of Nonviolent Action - Brandywine Peace Community

Start: Monday, January 17, 202212:00 PM

Remembering, honoring, never forgeting the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., has, since 1976, been the birthmark and cornerstone of the Brandywine Peace Community's commitment to nonviolent action for peace and justice. It would become a near 50-year resistance to war, nuclear weapons, and to the people and corporations making them. Over the decades, time after time after time, standing before Lockheed Martin (and before that, GE), during demonstration after demonstration, arrest after arrest, we'd hear the sound of Dr. King's words speak of "America's evil triplets: racism, militarism, and materialism." In that same speech delivered exactly one year to the day before his murder in Memphis, TN, on April 4, 1968, Dr. King decried the genocidal violence of the war in Vietnam and called the U.S. government "...the greatest purveyor of violence in the world...."Try as we must, we're still trying to walk the way of Dr. King.
