Democrats Abroad Lion City is marking the troubling start of the administration of the nation’s 45^th president with a morning event during which we will hand write letters to Congress demanding that they require the president-elect and his appointees to resolve the conflicts of interest that exist between their private interests and their obligation to govern in the interest of all Americans.

Join us on inauguration weekend to contribute to our initiative, share your thoughts, concerns and recommendations and enjoy coffee, tea and treats.

• We are gathering at the Community Room in the Sommerville Grandeur condos. Many thanks to Bill and Bing Gelman for organising the room.
• Sommerville Grandeur is a 5 minute walk from the Farrer Road MRT stop on the Circle (yellow) Line (CC20) and the many bus lines that stop at the Farrer Road MRT Station. (48, 93, 153, 165, 174, 186, 855, 961, 961#)
• If possible, please bring a small plate of morning tea treats to share. Coffee and tea (sugar + milk) will be provided to those who bring a hot drink “keep cup”.   Please byo water in a re-usable water bottle. Re-fills will be provided.
• Families – especially children – are most welcome! Their letters to Congress stand an excellent chance of receiving a reply!

Writing to Congress

We will provide paper, pens, envelopes and talking points for drafting letters to your elected representatives (who we can help you identify if you do not already know.) The addressed, sealed envelopes will be sent via DHL to a friend of Democrats Abroad in the US who will affix US postage and mail the letters as soon as possible.

Finding Inspiration

We encourage you to bring a quotation, saying or poem to share. For example:

A large piece of butcher paper will be posted on the wall for you to inscribe or draw on. Coloured marker pens, pencils and crayons will be provided.

We will capture images of our event to share on social media, with other DA country committees and on our webpage so that those unable to participate can experience vicariously our Democratic Party fellowship.

Wounded Warriors

One of our members has a bag of business class vanity bags to send to the Democrats Abroad Wounded Warriors project run by in DA France -Strasbourg Chapter, which provides comfort to soldiers recovering at the US military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. You can contribute to the package by bringing to the event vanity bags, travel size toiletries or chocolates.  Many thanks in advance for your contributions.
