Jazz Mentors 9, “Creating a Buzz: Practical Tools for Today’s Marketplace,” is the ninth installment in the highly successful series of discussions hosted by AFM, Local 802 and the Council for Living Music on the business of jazz. This series is specifically geared to younger performers to help them develop more awareness in the areas of marketing and publicity, representation and management, repertoire, touring and recording, etc. The New School’s Glass Box Performance Space will provide an ideal setting for this event.

The April 25th Jazz Mentors session brings together a distinguished panel of experts to discuss the contemporary scene and the most practical concepts, both conventional and unconventional, that underpin a successful career in jazz.

The panelists for Jazz Mentors 9 are:  2016 64th Annual Downbeat Critics Poll award winning saxophonist, Grace Kelly; preeminent bassist, educator and sound designer Gene Perla; artist manager/educator Laura Hartmann and WBGO radio on air personality Sheila Anderson.
