We are in a housing crisis. The pandemic has left millions at risk of losing their homes with rents reaching record highs and evictions exceeding pre-pandemic levels. It's time for tenants to win power from the corporate landlords and developers pricing out working class communities.

Join us on Thursday, May 18th at 6pm, and learn about our campaign for Right-to-Counsel! The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) here in Hudson County are leading a coalition of community organizations to win Right-to-Counsel, a policy that would guarantee every Jersey City renter legal defense in landlord-tenant court. Winning this reform is crucial to fighting against unfair evictions, combatting harassment from landlords, and building a movement of working people to make Jersey City ours -- not the developers'.

We'll be hosting a Tenants Forum followed by a Know Your Rights panel and a Political Education section on why the rent is so damn high.

Nationwide, when facing eviction, on average, only 3% of tenants are represented in housing court, compared to 81% of landlords. Housing is a human right and no one should have to go up in an unfair fight for their homes. It's time Jersey City level the playing field. We need to guarantee the right to counsel for ALL tenants.
