Today we are facing multiple challenges in this country, from climate change, to economic inequality; but another great challenge we face is the cost of college, and the looming college debt crisis. We have more than 1.6 trillion dollars in student debt. This debt is holding back former students from participating in the broader economy, because they are worried about the debt they already have piled up from attending school. Not to mention this crisis is compounded for people of color in this country, who take on more debt on average than their white counterparts, and have a tougher time paying back those loans. So this Juneteenth, we want to dive further into the topic of tuition free college and student debt cancellation, and focus on how it will help uplift black and brown people in this country. We are excited to be partnering with RISE, an organization dedicated to making college free and accessible to all. Join us on June 19th at 6:30 p.m. as we tackle the student debt crisis, and discuss ways we can make college a right and not just a privilege.
