Justice at Spotify - Toronto
Start: Monday, March 15, 2021• 1:00 PM
JUSTICE AT SPOTIFY - The Union of Musicians and Allied Workers brings our demands to to Spotify on this day.
Join us for a socially distanced action on March 15th at 1pm #JUSTICEATSPOTIFY
We will meet in Yonge-Dundas Square and gather in solidarity with musicians around the world that are demonstrating in support of our demands. This is the first time music workers have organized internationally to make demands of a global streaming corporation!
Tell your friends, bring your instruments, signs and voices, masks, and stay tuned for more updates from us!
Our Demands:
Pay us at least one cent per stream
Adopt a user-centric payment model
Make all closed-door contracts public
Reveal existing payola, then end it altogether
Credit all labor in recordings
End legal battles intended to further impoverish artists
For too long we have seen Spotify profit off our labor without transparency, accountability or reasonable compensation. See you on the 15th and let’s create an industry that is just and equitable!

At the action:
DO make noise. We are musicians after all.
DO Sing songs
DO wear a mask, and socially distance.
DO bring signs.
DO document the action. Pictures and video are great!
DO know your rights.
DON’T endanger anyone.
DON’T block traffic.
DON’T engage in violent behavior.
*Note: This event was originally planned to be outside Spotify's Toronto office. However, to the best of our knowledge, they have vacated their offices, and left no trace, so for increased visibility we have moved this demonstration of solidarity to Yonge-Dundas Square.
