KC DSA presents Beyond Borders: A Symposium on Migration, Empire, and Global Capital.
The struggle against ICE is an international struggle. Join us for a day of panels and presentations that will help you understand the history of immigration and imperialism and the longstanding effects we’re seeing today. We’ll end the day with a canvassing training that will give you the skills you need to help your community and build a better world.
We will have guest panelists from various organizations in the KC Metro who have been leading the fight against ICE, imperialism, prisons, and police.
Panels include:
- Finite Planet, Infinite Greed: How Climate Change, Fossil Fuels, and Imperialism Displace Populations
- Race Gender and Sexuality: The Precarity of Migration through the Lens of Identity
- Electoral and Policy Strategies for Opposing ICE
- Free them All! An abolitionist praxis to fighting ICE
- UMKC, KKFI, and Economics for the People
- Students and the Movement: A History of Student Movements and the Anti-ICE Movement Today
Masks will be required and provided. The building is wheelchair accessible and we will have members available to provide additional assistance as needed.
