Start: Thursday, April 03, 2025•06:30 PM

Policing isn’t about safety – it's about control, and our communities know this firsthand. That’s why Mass Liberation AZ, National Lawyers Guild Central AZ Chapter, and Black Lives Matter Phoenix Metro are hosting a Know Your Rights training, focused on navigating encounters with police, while creating safe routes for each other. The Phoenix Police Department is one of (if not) the deadliest police force in the nation, and our people have suffered at the hands of an institution that puts property over people.
We’ll cover:
- What to say (and not say) if you’re stopped, searched, or detained
- How to assert your rights without escalating the situation
- Ways to protect vulnerable folks from police violence
- Community-based strategies to avoid calling the cops altogether
This system isn’t broken; it was designed this way. Together, we will learn how to keep one another protected when police are near, and build real safety. Come through, and connect with others committed to keeping our people safe.
Doors open at 6:30 PM, program begins at 7:00 PM.
Please Note:
- We keep us safe - please wear a mask: To ensure a safe and accessible environment for everyone, including our disabled and elderly community members, KN95 (or better) masks are required for all attendees. We will be providing masks for anyone who does not have one.
- Seating is limited, please make sure to RSVP and arrive on time.
